Lotus Consultancy / 02
Tax advisory & VAT in Malta.
Understand what you need to declare, which reliefs may apply and what needs to be filed. Lotus Consultancy helps individuals and businesses in Malta with tax planning, returns and VAT compliance.
Understand the position. Plan the next step.
Tax advice should begin with the person or business behind the return. We help review your position, identify applicable deductions, allowances and reliefs, and prepare the relevant submissions. The aim is to meet your obligations and avoid paying more tax than your circumstances require, within the applicable rules. Any relief or reduction depends on the legislation, the tax year and your eligibility; savings are not guaranteed.
- Personal and corporate income tax returns and computations
- Tax planning, applicable deductions, allowances and reliefs
- VAT registration, returns, advisory and compliance
- Tax refund assistance, correspondence and MTCA liaison
- Filing and payment obligations, considered separately
Personal tax, planning and reliefs
Individual income tax returns are an opportunity to check the full picture, not just the income figure. We can help review eligible deductions, allowances and parent-related tax reductions. Fees for qualifying children’s education, cultural or creative activities may also merit a review. Eligibility and evidence requirements vary by measure and year; not every parent or course qualifies. Where employment tax status is relevant, include questions about your FS4 declaration in the discussion.
Company tax and a considered position
We prepare company tax returns and computations and help review a company’s tax position. Bring the relevant accounts, the period involved and any planned change or transaction you want to discuss. Advice can begin before a return is due, so the question is considered in context rather than at the point of submission.
VAT and electronic filing
VAT returns and income tax returns serve different purposes. We assist with VAT preparation and tax-return submission requirements, including electronic filing where applicable. Explain the business activity, the periods involved and which records are available so the work can be scoped appropriately.
Filing dates and payment obligations
The date for submitting a return and the date for paying tax need separate attention. An online filing extension should not be assumed to extend payment. We help you understand the obligations relevant to your enquiry and the information needed to address them. Bring any notice or correspondence promptly; late returns and unpaid tax can have different consequences.
Can I ask for advice before a return is due?
Yes. You can contact Lotus about a tax question or a proposed business change as well as preparation of a return. Explain the decision you are considering and any relevant dates; the scope of advice can then be discussed.
Start a conversation
Let us know whether your enquiry concerns a company or an individual, the relevant period and whether you are asking about tax, VAT or both. We can discuss your specific requirements directly.
