Lotus Consultancy / 04

Funding & incentives in Malta.

Starting a business or investing in the next stage? Lotus Consultancy helps small businesses with funding and incentive applications in Malta, including Malta Enterprise schemes.

Give your next idea a considered start.

We help eligible businesses explore local and EU funding, prepare applications and organise supporting financial information. The right programme depends on the project and current scheme rules; approval rests with the relevant authority.

  • Local and EU grants, funding and incentives
  • Eligibility reviews and application preparation/submission support
  • Malta Enterprise schemes, including Micro Invest tax-credit enquiries
  • Business plans, financial projections and supporting documents
  • Financial reporting for approved schemes where applicable

Begin with the project

The useful starting point is what you want to do: the purpose of the investment, the business behind it and the stage you have reached. A scheme name alone does not explain whether a project is a good fit.

Prepare and submit the application

We assist with application preparation and submission requirements. Bring a project description, an outline of the investment and the records or quotations already available. We can help assess the fit against the relevant scheme conditions and identify the supporting information needed. The authority determines eligibility and approval.

Micro Invest tax credits

Micro Invest 2026–2030 supports eligible business investment through a tax credit. Proposed equipment, machinery, digital investment or employment-related expenditure needs to be checked against the actual qualifying cost rules; not every item or cost is eligible. The published guidelines also contain specific provisions relevant to Gozo. We can help review your circumstances without assuming the same support applies to every business.

Check the measure and the timing

A start-up, an established business and a business investing in Gozo may face different conditions. The scheme version, expenditure period and application window all matter. Use current Malta Enterprise guidance before committing costs or relying on a previous advertisement; incentives do not all take the form of cash grants.

Do I need to have chosen a funding scheme already?

No. You can begin by describing the business and the investment or project. If you have already identified a scheme, include its name. Eligibility and awards remain subject to the relevant authority’s rules and decisions.

Start a conversation

Tell us whether you are starting or already trading, what you want to invest in and whether any costs have already been committed. Include the scheme name if you have one. Eligibility, available support and approval are determined by the relevant authority; funding is not guaranteed.
