Understand the form of support
Malta Enterprise describes Micro Invest 2026–2030 as a tax-credit measure for eligible business investment. It should not be approached as an unrestricted cash payment. Other support measures can work differently, so the scheme name and version matter.
Start with the project and its evidence
Describe the business, the planned investment and when costs will be incurred or have been incurred. Equipment, machinery, digital investment and employment-related costs should be checked against the actual eligible expenditure rules. A business expense is not automatically a qualifying scheme cost.
The guidelines also distinguish particular circumstances, including provisions for Gozo. A percentage or maximum from an advertisement should not be assumed to apply to your business. Lotus can assist with reviewing the fit and preparing the application information; Malta Enterprise determines approval.
Check the application window
The official scheme page reviewed on 17 October 2026 states that applications for this measure may be submitted from 1 January 2027. That is distinct from the expenditure periods and other conditions in the guidelines. Check the current version before relying on a date or committing expenditure.
For a useful first discussion, outline the project, provide a broad cost breakdown and identify any existing quotations or records. There is no need to have every detail settled before asking about the support available.
