Independent statutory audit
Statutory audits and assurance engagements are undertaken by independent affiliated auditors, not by Lotus Consultancy Limited. Each auditor considers professional, ethical, independence and regulatory requirements and separately decides whether to accept an engagement.
Consider the applicable requirement
An initial discussion can identify the entity, financial year-end and reason an audit is being requested. Audit exemption and alternative assurance requirements depend on the applicable rules and the company’s circumstances; a preliminary discussion is not a formal eligibility determination.
Know where the records stand
The status of the bookkeeping and financial statements matters when discussing an audit. Let us know what has already been prepared and whether supporting records are available for the period.
Agree the engagement
Audit scope, responsibilities and reporting arrangements need to be clear before work begins. Timing and acceptance depend on the circumstances of the engagement, including applicable professional and independence requirements.
Can I discuss an audit before the financial statements are ready?
Yes. An early enquiry can identify the reporting period, the state of preparation and any intended reporting date. Explain whether you also need help preparing the statements so the separate requirements can be considered.
